An conference of the magazine “The Economist” with the title: “A glimpse into Europe’s financial Landscape- Greece: a comeback to the financial markets?” was held on May 31 in Frankfurt. Greek Finance Minister Mr. Evklidis Tsakalotos , Chairman of the National Bank of Greece Mr. Yannis Stournaras and some other outstanding European and Greek figures spoke about the prospects of Greek economy.
On behalf of the Greek Diaspora spoke the president of the charitable organization “Boumbouras Foundation” and the founder of GEFEST Building Company Mr. Pantelis Boumbouras. Mr. Boumbouras proposed to establish a special separate program for the Greek Diaspora investments.
“The memorandum concerning my Motherland ignored the potential of the Greek Diaspora,” – he said and stressed that a technical support of the investment program at the legislative level in needed.
He also noted that there is a need in a program that will create incentives to attract global investment market, rather that grants. P. Boumbouras described tourism as a driving force of the Greek economy and noted that the European Investment Bank must approve low-interest loans for the construction of various tourist facilities.
