We are delighted to share with you how the unforgettable vacation of children from the Kherson Territorial Community and the Kherson region went at the children's camp of the Holy Monastery of Fthiotida "Agia Aikaterini" in the city of Kainourgio. Every day was filled with joy, new experiences, and discoveries.
The children enjoyed the sea every day, which was just a few minutes away from the camp, and actively participated in various sports activities: football, basketball, volleyball — all under the guidance of experienced coaches. Animators organized exciting games and workshops, helping to develop the children's skills and strengthen their teamwork.
One of the highlights was the meeting with astrophysicist Smanis Fanis, who gave a lecture on the mysteries of our galaxy. Afterward, the children had the chance to observe the rings of Saturn through a telescope.
On August 15th, on the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the children attended a liturgy at the Church of Saint Panteleimon in the city of Kamena Vourla. After the service, they enjoyed another special part of the day — swimming in the pool, playing games with the animators, and a festive lunch.
During the trip, the children also visited the Historical Information Center for Thermopylae, where they learned about the famous Battle of Thermopylae and watched a film about the heroic feat of the 300 Spartans. Another important stop was at the Holy Monastery of Panagia Damastas, where the children saw the miraculous icon of the Mother of God Damasta and received prayer bracelets and icons as souvenirs from the nuns.
At the end of the vacation, His Eminence Metropolitan Simeon blessed the children and their companions, wished for peace to return to Ukraine as soon as possible, and expressed special thanks to Mr. Bumburas for his invaluable support and care for the children of Ukraine.
We sincerely thank His Eminence Metropolitan Simeon and all the clergy who were with the children throughout their stay in the camp for their hospitality and support during the children's vacation in Greece. Your warmth and attention made this vacation truly special for every child.
