On March 25, 2025, a solemn screening of the documentary film "Ελευθερία ή Θάνατος: Freedom or Death" took place at the "UNION" Concert Hall in Odesa, as part of the Greek Culture Week in Odesa.
The Week was organized by the Department of International Cooperation, Culture and Marketing of the Odesa City Council.
The screening was initiated and supported by the Head of the Boubouras Foundation, Pantelis Boubouras.
Speakers at the event included:
- Head of the Department of International Cooperation, Culture and Marketing, Ivan Liptuga
- Consul General of the Hellenic Republic in Odesa, Christos Zacharopoulos
- Head of the Federation of Greek Societies of Ukraine, Stepan Makhsma
- President of the construction company "Gefest", Pantelis Boumpouras.
The film "Freedom or Death" tells the powerful stories of Ukrainians of Greek descent for whom Ukraine is not just a homeland, but a place of constant struggle for freedom.
It shares the lives of soldiers, volunteers, doctors, artists, and entrepreneurs who demonstrate daily through their actions and sacrifices the strength of spirit, loyalty to their roots, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of freedom, even in the darkest times.
It is a film about the fight for independence and human dignity, a legacy passed from generation to generation.
The project was realized thanks to producer and author Maria Harakoz-Lapieva and director Olena Kryvenko.
