August 4 marks the 20th anniversary of the restoration of the Church of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene in Odessa. The Greek entrepreneur and philanthropist Pantelis Boumbouras is the ktetor of the church. At a time, on his funds, the Church bells were brought from Greece, now he helps to the poor parishioners and soon on the territory of the temple complex, on the edge of the steep shore of the sea, another church will appear – in honor of the St. Equal-to-the-Apostles Olga.
The archpriest Vyacheslav Zemlyanski who since 1997 is the permanent temple abbot, speaking of the good deeds which distinguished Mr. Boumbouras, recalled the statement from the Gospel – “Faith without deeds is dead,” and therefore for those who are able to do good deeds, the help of Pantelis Boumbouras to Church and community is an example of Christian Charity.
