“Some simply don’t have clothes to get to school,” volunteers told about the life of children in the villages.

Another 200 children from low-income families in the Odessa region received humanitarian help.
As part of the “Children of the Region” project, volunteers and representatives of the Foundation handed over new seasonal shoes and school stationery kits to children from settlements in the Saratsky, Artsizsky and Tarutinsky districts.

All financing was undertaken by the Head of the Foundation, the owner of the construction company “Gefest” Pantelis Boubouras.

“The project “Children of the Region” is based, among other things, on sad stories from villages. Some children wore shoes alternately to walk to school or kindergarten. In the 21st century it is simply unthinkable. But it is a fact. We went through creation, got together and went to the region,” said the project volunteer, journalist Julia Nikandrova.

According to her, among the needy are orphans, children from low-income large families and family-type orphanages, as well as children deprived of parental care.

“Almost all of our wards remain in precarious life situations. There are families who are trying hard and they just need to be supported. For example, family-type orphanages or children whose grandparents became guardians. The situation is worse with families in which children are raised among asocial parents that is hard to watch,” says the volunteer.

The project was launched in late December 2018. Organizational assistance is provided by the regional service for children and its structural divisions in the districts of the region. Officials are preparing lists of those who primarily need humanitarian assistance.

“According to the information of the service, the needy children are about 1000 people living in different parts of the region. As of the end of March, we have provided half of the children declared in the lists. Only 9 districts of the region are left, which we plan to visit until the end of April,” mentioned Anna Kalashnik, one of the curators of the Boubouras Foundation project.

Volunteers have already visited 16 settlements of the region. Next in line is the northern part of the Odessa region.
