On 31 October 2016 Pantelis Boumbouras, the President of the charitable organization “Boumbouras Foundation”, was awarded by the Ministry of culture and sports of Greece for his contribution to education, restoration of historical truth and values of Hellinism.
In the full Assembly Hall of the Ministry of culture and sports of Greece ministers, members of Parliament, mayors, diplomats and scientists of Greece were present.
The President of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture Mr. K.Tsoukalas in his speech mentioned the supertemporal role of philanthropists and emphasized the special role of Pantelis Boumbouras, who continues the ancient traditions of patronship and sets an example with his contribution to the development of national and patriotic topics.
The Minister of culture of Greece Mr.Aristidis Baltas in his turn noted that Mr. Boumbouras “did a lot for the Greek Diaspora in Odessa and not only... We honour and thank him”.
Mr. Sofronis Paradeisopoulos, the Director the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, Odessa branch, also expressed his gratitude to the support that Mr.Boumbouras gives to the Foundation since 1994 until now. “Mr. Boumbouras generously help the Foundation not only financially, but also with the ideas of culture management, especially concerning the promotion of Greece in Ukraine”.
Pantelis Boumbouras, greeting everybody in the Assembly Hall said that he was touched and mentioned that his deeds must become an example for other Greeks abroad to follow.
The event was visited by the Minister of the Interior of Greece Mr. Panagiotis Kouroumblis, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (concerning the Diaspora issues) Mr. Giannis Amanatidis, the member of Parliament Mr. Nasos Afanasiou, the President of the parliamentary group of Greece-Ukraine friendship Mr. Giorgos Stilios, the Deputy Secretary on the Greek Diaspora issues Mr. Dimitris Plevrakis, the Mayor or Piraeus Mr. Giannis Moralis, the Mayor of Limnos Mr. D.Marinakis, the President of the Administrative Council of the Municipality of Piraeus Mr. Giorgos Davakis and the Vice-Mayor of Piraeus Mr. Alexandros Argoudelis.
